About Me

I’m happy to share that I have experienced my own transformation through therapy and this makes me even more emphatic about supporting others to find their own. Change looks and feels different to everyone. Counselling can help you identify something that you want to change through an action you can take, or you might experience an internal shift that builds a strength within you that you didn’t even know was there. It could do both! I love to help people discover what this looks like to them and support them to fill in the missing pieces.

I won’t advise or tell you what to do. As scary or unbelievable as it might sound, you’re the one who holds the key to reaching any goals or making any changes you need. But I’ll be there with you to, hopefully, make it feel a little less scary and a lot more achievable.

I won’t judge. It is so important for you to learn that you can trust me with anything you bring. Not only that, but you need to feel heard and that I get you. You can’t be expected to build a therapeutic relationship with me if you feel judged, not heard or misunderstood – so these key principles are all part of the package. That’s not to say there won’t be a gentle challenge thrown in there from time to time, but this would be to encourage reflection and to dig a bit deeper.

So, if you think I would be a good fit for you, and you’re willing to commit the time, energy and work to the process, get in touch below – I’d love to hear from you!

Qualifications and  Therapeutic Approach

I’ve worked in mental health services for over a decade and I can’t imagine working in any other area. I retrained as a counsellor in 2018 after working in the NHS as a mental health social worker - and haven’t looked back. I now work within an NHS psychological therapies team as a counsellor in addition to working privately.

My core counselling and psychotherapy approach is 'person-centred'. That may mean something to you and it may not, but if you’re interested in understanding more, then an online search should direct you to a summary quite quickly.

Even though my foundation is person-centred, I also draw on compassion-focussed therapy and emotion-focussed therapy. As we are all individuals, a one-size-fits-all approach does not work, so I tailor my approach to you but am person-centred at the core.
